Sept 30 th 2009 - Dear Friends, It has been an exciting and important year of music for me. A million thank-you's to all of you who have come to our shows over the summer and shown us your support. It means so much. Participating in the "Ottawa Valley's Got Talent" contest was a good learning experience. Our show at the Lions Hall in Killaloe was unforgettable. It was also a pivotal moment in our bands history, as it was the first time we've had an opening act, an all girl band "The Sonoritas". We had a new photo shoot this summer, and I wrote a new song called "Less of Me". We're still recording at HalfString Studios, and the winds of change are here again. The little ones are back to school, the geese are taking off, and the leaves are crunchy beneath my feet. Please continue to join me on this adventure as we begin a new season. I am thankful for each and every one of you, it is medicine to be able to share some of the deepest parts of me with people who are blessed by it and appreciate what it takes to put myself out there. It's not always easy to write, or record, or even perform. But without these processes, the teeth gritting and the bliss co-mingled, i would be ill with heartache. in this contemplative hibernation that winter always seems to bring
me, I want to take a minute to write you all. I have not been emotionally
at my best over the past year, yet I realize that times in the desert
make me long for the water I can so easily take advantage of when things
are going great. And that in itself is a good thing at least. It’s
much easier to give up and give in than it is to dare myself to live,
and love, and be challenged by growth. We were created with purpose
and none of us are here without good reason. What are YOU here for?
I dare you to find out. I wanted to share my new painting with you that
I’ve recently completed. It’s called REBIRTH. This new original
piece is available for purchase though my website, as well as 4x6 framed
prints and key chains too! Questions and comments about my art are always
more than welcome! All music and art purchases help me continue recording
my new music in the studio. Your support in buying my new single “FREE”
a few months ago brought me back into Half String Studios here in Pembroke
where I completed another single “FIRE” including another
bonus track called “ALL THIS WAY”. It is being mixed this
week and you can expect to get your copy in February! Thank you for
your help everyone! I am currently looking for a new bass player to
join our band as I plan to start doing shows again this spring. I look
forward to the refreshment that being on stage always brings. I love
to be up there and share with you what God has nurtured inside me musically!
It’s an honorable and amazing thing. Our lives are entwined in
how we affect one another through what we say and do…and also
in what we DON’T say or do. I’ve learned that only in giving

Our bass player Andrew Swan is no longer with us as he’s moved away to Belleville without much notice, and we are not equipped to play a show without a bassist. It was great to capture my new music … it’s liberating to hear even the first rough tracks with my arms crossed, eyes closed. *sigh* Finally. A new adventure begins. My second album. `;` My writing break was a plethora of different emotions. It was also shorter lived than I assumed it would be. It brought me some breaking points of clarity which I needed, and the songs that were born this time were a balanced mixture of my joy and my angst. I got more familiar with myself and the reality of my need to write songs as an outlet…a ‘staple’ to my spiritual survival, if you will. The band has shifted, changed, grown, and stretched. Our new group has been practicing hard and can’t wait to do the upcoming live shows with the brand new, raw material. I am so comfortable with these guys and completely confident in their talents. God has been SO good to me. All I’ve needed, His hand has provided to make this all come together again. So thanks for reading, and thanks to those of you who kept encouraging me during my hiatus. Mar 1st 08 - Dear
Friends, It’s miserably
cold outside. I miss the rain, the birds, the warm starry nights in
front of the fire pit. For me, winter is often a long pause from so
many luxuries for contemplation, self discovery, and growth. I wanted
to let you know that I have decided to take a writing break for my next
album. I have 4 new songs, and want to have at least 4 more, as well
as some re mixes from my debut. I’ll also be working on my art
again, which I feel has been put on the shelf for awhile. It is also
an important aspect of my self-expression, and brings me a lot of joy.
Hopefully I’ll be in the recording studio by this summer, and
ready to start the performances again shortly after. Having the band
was challenging, exhausting, and amazingly rewarding. But as much as
I loved having the band, I love to follow my heart even more, and this
decision feels right for me as a solo artist, to take this break. It
feels best for my musical path, my family, and my inner peace. No matter
how drastic or sudden it seems to others, seeing how things have been
picking up, I feel I have to take a step backwards at this time in order
to move forward in the direction I want to in the future. You have all
been wonderfully supportive over the past year, and for that I thank
you. I feel I’ve grown and learned a lot, and am more settled
in what I want and where I want to go with all of this. It’s not
to be taken lightly, nor is it to be inflated into something it’s
not. It takes a lot of careful stepping, as we don’t always see
what’s around the corner on our paths. Please continue to keep
me in your thoughts and prayers, as I try my best to be true. I am excited
about what 2008 will bring my way. What songs will I write? What pictures

to all who made the trip out to Montreal to support Nicolette and the
entire team. There was over a dozen of you. We did our best and we kicked
